Long Point Lighthouse, Twillingate, Newfoundland, Canada

Newfoundland & Labrador

Home to the Inuit and their predecessors for thousands of years, you can experience their culture and hospitality along with the humour and storytelling.

Labrador and Newfoundland is sparsely populated with 181,000, a third of the population, living in the capital St Johns, offering a huge diversity of scenery from Arctic Tundra, mountains, and fjords to quaint fishing villages.

The Torgnat Mountains National park offers nearly 10,000 square kilometres of wilderness with no roads and no signs telling you where to go or what to see, just acres of space to explore. Polar Bears inhabit the northern regions and you can encounter black bears and moose as you head further south. You can be assured of a warm welcome, a good yarn and some great music and it’s closer than you think.

Fogo Island Inn

Fogo Island Inn is a contemporary retreat literally perched on a craggy outcrop of Fogo Island off Newfoundland’s dramatic shoreline. Teetering on the edge, supported by flamingo-like stilts that look like they could barely withstand the tiniest splash from the Atlantic Ocean, Fogo Island Inn encompasses contemporary luxury with all that is traditional of the North Atlantic. To call it an inn seems to contradict the idea of a luxury hotel; however, the community is the focus of Fogo and the Inn is very much a meeting place.

Roxy was FANTASTIC at recommending the best place and season to go to see bears in Canada. We saw 47 in total, and 3 of these were up close and personal. Roxy was very professional and helpful, especially when my friends circumstances changed.

I could not have wished for a better and more efficient itinerary in terms of both the destinations we visited and how the timing coincided. Plus, the communication from Roxy was excellent throughout.
