Europe

Close to home but far from uninteresting, Europe is a continent that only grows bigger the more you explore it.

From the English Channel to the Caspian Sea, Europe’s richly varied history and ever-changing landscape have created a patchwork of independent nations, each with their own story.

Ancient ruins and architectural glories sit beside contemporary art and mouth-watering gastronomy, whilst towering alpine peaks and wolf-trodden forests contrast with impossibly dramatic coastlines and mesmerising wildflower meadows. Europe can truly rival anywhere for diversity of culture and scenery.

In the south, the Mediterranean Sea decorates the shores of the Latin states. North African influences can be found, alongside classical architecture of impossible beauty and cuisines to complement it. Towards the east, Europe juxtaposes Asia as the Christian heritage of Georgia and Armenia dazzles against the backdrop of the Caucasus Mountains.

Moving northwards, the fjordlands and tundra of Scandanavia offer a refuge for some of the continent’s largest mammals. And Iceland, with its fiery tectonic reputation, hides tales of elves amongst its bubbling hot springs and crashing waterfalls.

Kate Hitchen

My travels were first inspired by my love of the UK, which I take as much pleasure in exploring as countries far and wide. For me, travel is all about the adventure, the people I meet and the food I sample along the way.

Katie Benden

The excitement of travelling the world has always hugely appealed. Largely cemented from my first solo trip to Egypt and the Middle East. The crazy hustle and bustle of Cairo was a huge assault on the senses, scrambling through the claustrophobic tunnels of the Great pyramid took me out of my comfort zone and I was left humbled by the warm hospitality of the Nubian people in Aswan as we shared dinner together.
