Golden moment at Ora Beach, Indonesia

After what can sometimes be a stressful few months of wedding planning, you’ll want to know your honeymoon is in safe hands.

We’ve been taking care of our client’s honeymoons since 1989, and while fashions may have changed, our desire to listen and to tailor-make our holidays has remained constant. We know the most romantic hotels and can use our contacts to arrange a special concierge service, exclusively for honeymooners travelling with Steppes.

We know the most secluded beaches and the most indulgent spas. We know the best restaurants with tucked-away tables for intimate dining and we know some of the best picnic sites in the world, guaranteed to make you feel you’re the only couple on the planet. We also have unconventional ideas you can do together – try a surfing lesson, learn how to make pizza, track rhino or swim with manta rays. Whatever we do, you can be sure it will be customised to suit both your needs and the red-carpet will be rolled out to make you both feel special.

Africa honeymoons

In southern Africa, we recently organised a quad-biking adventure across the Makgadikgadi salt plains in Botswana while another couple spent a week in Mozambique on a private dhow-safari. For beach lovers, we recommend Alphonse Island Lodge in Seychelles – an idyllic, remote island retreat in the Indian Ocean. While romantic walks on the beach are mandatory, you may also wish to try snorkelling with sailfish, kayaking, fly fishing or taking a turtle patrol under the auspices of the Island Conservation Centre.

Argentina honeymoons

We also surprised the bride, by not just arranging a decadent city-break in Madrid, but a connecting flight on to Argentina, where the couple went horseriding with gauchos across the Andes.

India honeymoons

If finding the perfect balance between culture and indulgence is important on holiday then this is the trip for you. Undeniably, Rajasthan is utterly romantic, as well as bursting with history, colour and vibrancy. We challenge you to find any other destination, which packs the cultural punch of Rajasthan whilst at the same time treating you as royalty and creating magical moments of serendipity.

Indonesia honeymoons

Thanks to a collection of world-class hotels, historical sites, local culture and white sand beaches, Indonesia makes for a truly memorable honeymoon. For beaches spend time on the smaller islands of Bali and Lombok, with both islands offering the chance to relax on the beach and visit the cultural sites of Java and central Bali – Ubud. If you spend time on the larger island of Java, the famous temple of Borobudur is a must. Visiting these three islands together is a fantastic option for couples with an appetite for culture combined with luxury hotels and pristine beaches.

Illona Cross

Born in a small South African town, I have always followed my passion for nature and discovery. After studying Nature Conservation in Pretoria, I was one of the first women to complete a very tough cadetship in the Natal Parks Board. It was here where I cut my teeth in African wildlife management.
