Offering a relaxed boutique feel, Capella Lodge sits above the white sands of the romantically named Lover’s Bay, on the beautiful island of Lord Howe. Nine spacious suites make the most of the lagoon, ocean and mountains views, with floor to ceiling windows and nautical style interiors reflecting the vistas.

Each room has a private decked area with some categories set over two floors with their own private plunge pool. The mesmerising views continue throughout the hotel from the lodges indoor and outdoor terrace areas, the restaurant and the infinity-edged swimming pool.

Why we like Capella Lodge

There are so many reasons to love Capella Lodge, most notably that it is a tiny gem of a hotel which encapsulates Lord Howe’s natural beauty and is located in a prime spot on the island. We love the fact that the restaurant seats all new arrivals at the prime table by the window and then rotates seating arrangements, so everyone gets a chance to enjoy the best view in the house.

Activities

Although the island is small there are plenty of activities on offer. Complimentary bikes are available to guests at the hotel or there are plenty of hiking trails for all abilities, including the option to summit Mt Gower, rated as one of the worlds best day walks. The island has 11 beaches to chose from and there are plenty of water-based activities including snorkelling, kayaking and diving. Bird watching is also excellent with over 130 species seen on the island.

Although not the destination for shopaholics there is actually a single strip of charming local shops as well as a small museum charting the island’s history.

Location

Lord Howe Island is located approximately 700 kilometres off the coast of Australia, northeast of Sydney. It is best reached via a two-hour flight from either Brisbane or Sydney. On arrival on the island Capella Lodge is just a few minutes drive away.
