Mara Elephant Project

My Expertise

  • Kenya Flag Kenya

Mara Elephant Project (MEP) was initially set up to combat the threat of poaching but has now evolved to address other issues, such as habitat loss and human-wildlife conflict. Encountering elephants on a safari is likely to be the highlight of any visit to the Masai Mara; however, co-existing alongside such an uncompromising and potentially dangerous animal is not such a thrill.

With rangers out in the field, MEP not only deters would-be poachers but also works closely with local communities to mitigate any conflict that may exist between elephants and people.

Talk to us about meeting the MEP team to witness first-hand their essential work.
