Grano de Oro is the most upscale hotel it the city centre providing a true oasis in the heart of the bustling capital. Converted from a Victorian mansion, this 40-room hotel maintains the warmth and comfort of a private house with superb service.
The hotel's atrium has sparkling fountains and lush tropical plants, while a rooftop deck has jacuzzis and a spot for secluded sunbathing. The restaurant at the Grano de Oro is one of San Jose's finest, serving continental cuisines in a warm and intimate atmosphere.
In addition to three suites, rooms come in three categories: standard rooms fitted with queen size beds and en-suite bathrooms; superior rooms offering more space than a standard room, and the more spacious deluxe rooms which have different combinations of twin queen beds or king-size beds, again with en-suite bathrooms.
Why we like it
We love the bright rooms in the restored part of the old mansion house but equally love the contrast of the new rooms with elegant dark woods and inviting outdoor patios.
A rooftop garden-terrace with lawn beds and jacuzzi provides blissful secluded lounging and in-room massage services are available.
Situated on a quiet street just off Paseo Colon in San Jose, close to the city’s shops, restaurants and bars.
