Haida Gwaii

Formerly known as the Queen Charlotte Islands, Haida Gwaii is a chain of islands off the west coast of British Columbia, north of Vancouver Island.  Within the archipelago of the national park, Gwaii Haanas, protects a range of historical monuments, archaeological sites, cultural events, indigenous heritage and artistic tradition.  The islands are best visited by boat, sailing through the spectacular scenery and exploring the shoreline and vast primary rainforests.  The national park protects a large number of marine species and has a strong First Nations history.

Canadian Galapagos

Haida Gwaii is also known as the Canadian Galapagos for its wildlife and beauty. The islands are one of the most inaccessible regions.  Bald eagles circle the skies while bears roam the rivers looking for salmon.  The surrounding ocean is filled with breaching whales, sea lions and dolphin.

First Nations

Home of the Haida First Nations, the Haida Gwaii islands are known for their culture and the mystical atmosphere.  Huge cedar trees tower over ancient totem poles and fallen longhouses are lost amongst the tropical rainforest. Named as one of National Geographic’s must-see places in the world, the archipelago represents some of the earliest evidence of human habitation in Canada, dating back some 14,000 years.

Small Boat Cruising

The rugged shores, hidden inlets, wildlife and culture of Haida Gawii are experienced at their best from the decks of a small boat. Choose between the charming converted tugboat, MV Swell or an elegant sailing yacht like Island Roamer
