Brooks Lodge £££££

  • USA
  • Safari and Wildlife Lodge

Brooks Lodge is set in the brown bear country of Katmai National Park and close to the legendary Brooks Falls. Arguably the most iconic destination in the world for brown bear viewing, Brooks Falls comes alive in the summer months when the salmon burst into the streams of Katmai. This draws the bears out to feed and makes for amazing viewing. A short walk from the falls is Brooks Lodge, a relaxed property that has been open since 1950. The lodge offers 16 comfortable rooms with the main building set overlooking Naknek Lake. Whilst bear viewing is the key lure to Brooks, sport fishing is equally popular on the adjacent rivers and lakes.

Located on the edge of the remote and stunningly beautiful Karluk Lake, the largest lake on Kodiak Island. It is home to all five species of the Eastern Pacific salmon and thus 2,500 Kodiak Brown Bears – the highest density of brown bears in the world.
