This private island hideaway is a true piece of paradise, a chance to leave all modern-day trappings at home and become a castaway. The Island is covered in tropical jungle and surrounded by lagoons with the open ocean and corals of the Northern Great Barrier Reef stretching for hundreds of kilometres.

Accommodation is luxuriously rustic with just four “huts”, each of which is unique and have a lounge area and a private deck.

Choose between the Lagoon Hut, a timber round house located on a lagoon or the Beach Hut, largely constructed out of driftwood in a secluded beach location under coconut palms. The thatched jetty area over the lagoon is a social place to relax, watch schools of fish, see the sunset and sit around the open fire.

Discard your shoes on arrival and become a true castaway. With only six handcrafted huts and an owner who was once a crocodile hunter in Papua New Guinea, Haggerstone offers the perfect combination of utopia and adventure for all ages.

Facilities

Facilities in the normal sense are not needed on Haggerstone – who needs a swimming pool and spa when nature provides two lagoons to swim in and cascading waterfalls to provide a shoulder massage. A 40-foot jet boat is at guest’s disposal and a restaurant serves simple food combining freshly caught seafood, blended with vegetables and herbs from the resort’s gardens in an Asian/French fusion.

Haggerstone Island is magical, and in addition to the below activities on offer do ensure you allow plenty of time for the simple things like sitting around the campfire, beachcombing, stargazing and of course exploring the amazing underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef.
