Visit the very top of the world, the Geographical North Pole, this mystical spot in the ice-covered Arctic Ocean, the axis on which our earth rotates. Reached only by icebreaker or a very long trek across the ice, this is somewhere you won’t find the average tourist.
Follow in the footsteps of history’s greatest explorers, whether you come in search of solitude in its magnificent landscapes, chanced sightings of the local Arctic wildlife or to experience the ethereal flickering of the Northern Lights, this vast wilderness on top of the world is as spellbinding as it is diverse.
The North Pole is the point in the northern hemisphere where the Earth’s axis of rotation meets its surface. It should not be confused with the Magnetic North Pole. The North Pole is the northernmost point on Earth, lying diametrically opposite the South Pole found in the Antarctic continent. It defines geodetic latitude 90° north, as well as the direction of True North. While the South Pole lies on a continental landmass, the North Pole is located in the middle of the Arctic Ocean amidst waters that are almost permanently covered with constantly shifting sea ice. This makes it impractical to construct a permanent station at the North Pole, unlike the South Pole.
Dare to undertake this ultimate voyage by icebreaker ship and join that exclusive club of people who have reached one of the world’s most iconic destinations. Expeditionary voyages to the North Pole offer a good chance of polar bear sightings en route and include landings on remote Franz Josef Land. Due to the ice conditions, this trip has limited departures in July only. If you yearn to experience the Arctic but don’t yet feel ready for the far reaches of the North Pole, then we can also arrange expedition voyages to Spitsbergen, the kingdom of the polar bear, and polar cruises exploring the Canadian Arctic.
Travel on-board a state of the art nuclear-powered icebreaker to the top of the world on this North Pole voyage, joining the exclusive club of humans who have arrived at this iconic and little-visited destination.
