Olonana Camp

This traditional tented camp lies in a private concession on the edge of the Masai Mara National Reserve. Looking out over the famous Mara River, it sits at the base of the magnificent Sirai Escarpment, which rises above the plains of the Mara.

14 beautiful canvas tents are strung along the river bank, positioned slightly above this watery landscape, which is home to a permanent pod of hippos. Inside these spacious safari tents, rich woods complement the pale canvas and mosquito-proof shrouds encircle the bed. In front, beautiful verandas feature comfortable sofas, affording views of the river.

Wildlife is frequently seen from camp itself, but game drives are the best way to get out and explore the heart of the Masai Mara. Other available activities include trips to local schools, guided nature walks and visits to nearby Maasai communities.

As well as its excellent, location, Olonana is renowned for its eco-friendly credentials. A trip to this environmentally conscious camp not only means spectacular wildlife viewing, but guarantees to minimise any impact on this fragile ecosystem. Water is purified using a natural treatment system, whilst the camp’s organic vegetable garden contributes to many of the meals.
