Kicheche Mara Camp is a tried, tested and loved classic bush camp in the award-winning Mara North Conservancy – one of the best wildlife viewing spots in the Mara. The 8 canvas rooms overlook the Olare Orok stream and the western escarpment in the distance, with the camp sitting in the aptly named Acacia Valley.
Western-style en-suite bathrooms, hot showers and soft beds keep you comfortable, whilst the team create a wonderful sense of fun. Lively dinners around the campfire or under the shade of the acacia trees keep the excitement going long after the game drives are over.
The Mara North Conservancy is one of the best-managed conservancies in the area and the lack of other tourists and abundance of game around Kicheche, keeps clients coming back year after year. Such is the quality of the wildlife experience, Kicheche Mara is the first choice for many of our clients who are keen on wildlife photography as the excellent guides here are also keen photographers themselves. This, combined with their superb knowledge of the area, means they have an uncanny knack for getting you in the right place at the right time with intuitive guiding that comes from all of Kicheche’s guides having achieved the KPSGA Silver Level guiding qualification.
This camp is an old favourite – located in one of the most prolific wildlife conservancy bordering the Masai Mara. The intuitive guides – most of whom are also excellent photographers – keep things fresh and flexible.
From the start of 2020, Kicheche Mara Camp will have an electric 4×4 vehicle as part of its fleet. Gradually being adopted by more environmentally conscious camps, these vehicles substantially reduce a camp’s carbon footprint, as they are typically recharged from solar arrays.
They also have the added benefit of being far quieter than a traditional vehicle, with virtually no noise coming from the engine. This makes game drives a far quieter experience, allowing the sounds of the bush come to the fore and reducing the chances of the vehicle scaring away wildlife.
