Why we like Shergarh Tented Camp
A totally eco-friendly yet uncompromisingly comfortable jungle camp, family run with expert naturalists on hand.
Expect large king size comfortable beds with soft pillows and locally crafted furniture. Spacious bathrooms and attention to detail with toiletries being made from natural products presented in plastic-free bottles. Sunbathe or later stargaze from your private cushioned verandah. During the colder months, an inviting hot water bottle and thick duvet will make you cosy enough in your tent. For meal times enjoy breakfast on the go during the morning safari. Try the incredible homemade banana cake and muesli. Light lunches and salads are served from the garden. Dinners are cooked in the style of traditional Indian home cooking with flatbreads and pickles and served under the mango tree by the light of the moon. Shergarh Tented Camp is definitely child-friendly and an added benefit is having the owners delightful children on site.
At the centre of Shergarh Tented Camp lies a spring-fed lake which attracts cormorants, kingfishers, herons, teal, waterhens and hundreds of breeding egrets. There's a small raft for children to take out and some guests enjoy a wild swim in the lake.
There are outdoor sofas by the water's edge on which guests can relax under a sprawling fig canopy or around the roaring campfire.
- Morning and afternoon jeep safaris (except Wednesday afternoons) with an English speaking naturalist
- Family-friendly guided forest walks and cycling safaris, organised from the camp
- Visiting local markets and villages
