The Linden Centre is a traditional courtyard complex set in a Bai minority village, surrounded by mountains and paddy fields. Once a family residence, a hospital, military barracks and a children’s nursery it has been restored to its former dynastic elegance.

Accommodating up to 28 guests this boutique hotel offers comfortably furnished rooms in a traditional style. The painted beams, courtyards, carved wooden panels and restaurants serving local dishes, give a real sense of how life may once have been.

By working closely with the local government, the American expat owners of the Linden Centre have breathed life into this ancient building and created a truly unique place to stay. A historical and charming hotel in a village where business and homes are still locally owned and guests can step back in time.

Activities

The joy of a stay at The Linden Centre is the chance to interact with the locals and immerse oneself in a traditional way of life. Activities available include calligraphy, tie-dye classes, the chance to learn the ancient game of mahjong and many culinary classes.

Learn to make dumplings, baba’s and other local delicacies or learn about the tea making process. For the more active there is plenty to do from hiking to cycling or exploring by horse and cart.
