Superbly located on Lion Hill, above the winding lanes of old town Lijiang. Amandayan is built in the traditional style of the Naxi people with accommodation arranged around tranquil courtyards across several dwellings. The 35 suites mix contemporary and Chinese styles with stone floors and wooden furniture, much of which is elaborately carved. Many have views over Lijiang towards the surrounding countryside and snow-capped mountains. Facilities include a spa, 20 metre outdoor heated swimming pool and two restaurants.

The painted beams, courtyards, carved wooden panels and restaurants serving local dishes, give a real sense of how life may once have been.
