Tailor-Made Holiday

Honduras - Highlights

The best of honduras including Copan, Pico Bonito and the Bay Islands

14 days

from £3,195pp

This holiday encompasses the most popular highlights found in this often overlooked Central American country packed with culture, wildlife and beautiful Caribbean islands.

  • Visit the charming town of Copan and the fantastic surrounding Maya ruins
  • Spend time in the paradise archipelago of Bay Islands
  • Horse ride into the highlands from a working ranch
  • Explore the diverse Pico Bonito National Park

Begin your holiday in the delightful colonial town of Copan, where white washed and painted colonial houses line the cobbled streets. Small converted houses with terracotta roofs offer wonderful lodging. Cafes, little eateries & souvenir shops are two a penny. There is no doubt this is a popular stop for backpackers and tourists alike, but the town has retained its charm and authenticity. However, step out into the hills above and discover the untapped countryside with working ranches and acres of small holdings.

Just outside the town of Copan is the famous Mayan site of Copan. The lack of scale that can be found at sites such as Tikal in Guatemala, does impinge on the impressive preservation and sheer detail of this archaeological site. Some of the largest Stelae on display can be found here and Copan is home to some of the most exciting archaeological discoveries of the last century.

Spend time in Pico Bonito National Park for trail hiking, wildlife encounters and some of the best kayaking and white water rafting in the area. Finally head to the coast and by small plane visit the Bay Islands, for a few days R&R on white sands alongside tropical waters and some of the world’s best diving.
