Tikal: Legacy of the Maya

This remote and jungle bound Maya metropolis is made up of around 3,000 structures and was once one of the largest and most significant Maya cities. The site features huge pyramidal temples, with the tallest reaching nearly 50 metres above the jungle canopy. Flourishing from 800 BC to 900 AD, Tikal offers visitors a real reminder of what the Maya empire achieved at its peak. The surrounding jungle is alive with wildlife; spider monkeys, agoutis, foxes, and ocellated turkeys can often be seen stalking the ruins, adding to the atmosphere.
