Room categories range from Water Terrace Suites through to rooms with indoor hot tubs, spacious balconies with water views and some with their own outdoor jet pool and private spa chamber. Dining options range from international to traditional Chinese cuisines and the award winning spa is nestled within the lush gardens and bamboo groves. Additional facilities include an in-door swimming pool plus steam and sauna rooms.
Why we like it
Banyan Tree Hangzhou manages to combines nature and culture in comfort. It's rare in China to be so close to the hustle and bustle of a thriving town yet right in the midst of nature with a real sense of space. There is wonderful birdlife on the doorstep and binoculars are available in the villas with views of the water so you can enjoy the wetlands and their residents from your balcony. You can also explore on foot, using the boardwalk that winds around the hotel, or by boat.
There are some lovely optional excursions on offer including an afternoon cruising the wetlands onboard a traditional “Jiangnan” sculling boat with Chinese tea and treats or experience a traditional Chinese dinner and learn about Hangzhou Tea Culture and special Long Jing Tea food under a beautiful draped tent amidst the wetland scenery.
