Nestled among the dunes and trees at the edge of the Indian Ocean lies Uga Chena Huts. Described as huts they are in fact extremely luxurious with beautiful views of Yala National Park and ocean.

Each of the well-appointed dwellings has a plunge pool and are designed in a ‘safari’ style to blend sympathetically with their jungle surroundings.

From the comfort of the seven-acre property, guests can explore Yala in search of leopards, of which Yala has the highest population worldwide but also to discover turtles, crocodiles and a huge collection of both resident and migratory birds.

The ethos at Chena is to not stick to one route but to discover more peaceful corners of Yala thus avoiding some of the crowds and adopting a more gentle approach to wildlife viewing.

Facilities

Chena Huts offers a 5-star hotel experience focusing on exclusivity and privacy. 14 luxurious cabins are spread over a 7-acre estate. These well-appointed cabins contain spacious living areas, cosy bedrooms, en suite private bathrooms featuring free-standing bathtubs and showers, as well as shaded outdoor decks with built-in private 5m plunge pools.

Activities

Chena Huts have their own well-trained guides and customized vehicles, from which they provide safaris into Yala National Park. For those wanting to travel further afield but remain in the park, Chena can organise visits to alternative parks and whale watching at nearby Mirissa.
