Tailor-Made Holiday

Greater Kruger Luxury Safari

Northern Kruger and the Private Concessions

11 days

from £4,495pp (excluding flights)

Combine three five-star lodges for the ultimate Greater Kruger National Park safari. This journey incorporates both safari opulence and fantastic wildlife viewing. Stay in the Kruger itself, as well as two of the most famous adjoining reserves.

  • Admire the rugged landscape of the Luvuvhu Valley from The Outpost’s stunning suites
  • Explore by open-topped safari vehicle in search of predators and prey, large and small
  • Visit Elephant Whispers for an incredible experience alongside these giant herbivores
  • Finish at the stunningly positioned Leopard Hills – offering privacy and seclusion

Begin in the wild northern landscape of the Kruger National Park, amongst acacia thickets, baobab-dotted grasslands and mopane forests. The Outpost sits in isolation, atop a scrub-dotted escarpment, with its modern, open-fronted suites offering fantastic views of the river valley below. Explore this fascinating terrain that, whilst accessible to the public, is protected from the crowds by its remote location. In search of big game, make use of small tracks that were previously reserved for official use by park employees.

Fly on from the Kruger and into the Timbavati Private Reserve, famed for its rare white lions. Here, Kings Camp provides an opulent base for exploration and game viewing. Looking out over a savannah landscape, this elegant camp offers access to 100 square kilometres of pristine bush. The reserve’s boundary with the Kruger is unfenced, meaning the wildlife wanders freely back and forth. The viewing is fantastic, with lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants and rhinos amongst the many species regularly spotted.

Located to the south of Timbavati, Sabi Sands is one of the most famous private reserves. Continue to Leopard Hills, found in the far west of Sabi Sands. Beautifully appointed, this elegant camp offers privacy, fantastic wildlife viewing and wonderful views. Looking out over the Mabrak River, the camp benefits from a well-frequented waterhole that sits below its hilltop position. Suites are spread out across the ridge, each featuring a private veranda and recessed plunge pool. Game walks are wonderful here – offering a closer and more intimate interaction with the reserve’s habitat and inhabitants.

Extend in Johannesburg

This trip can easily be extended with time before or after in Johannesburg. This modern city, rich with contemporary culture and ever-changing urban landscapes is the perfect compliment to the wilderness and wildlife of safari. The best way to explore the city is in the company of a local. One of our recommended guides is James Delaney, who is a Johannesburg native. An artist and sculptor, he can guide you around the neighbourhoods that form his canvas and also serve as his inspiration.

This journey focuses on an area rich with wilderness and wildlife. Combining three fantastic reserves, it offers an all-encompassing safari experience, allowing for an in-depth exploration of the Greater Kruger. Luxury and indulgence are also emphasised, with each of the three camps providing a wonderful – albeit individual and different – experience. Five-star service, cuisine and comfort prevails throughout, allowing the focus in camp to be on relaxation, in preparation for the next day’s phenomenal outdoor experiences.

Lions, leopards, buffaloes, rhinos and elephants are all commonly spotted, with thrilling close encounters possible from the camp's open-topped vehicles.

Morning and afternoon game drives allow for exploration by vehicle, whilst walking safaris provide a different perspective. Drives are conducted in modern Land Rovers, with expert guides leading the way. Complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits are served in the morning, whilst afternoon game drives feature drinks and canapés.
