Katie Jones

My love for travel began with my love of languages. During my time studying Spanish and Portuguese at University, I spent a year living and working in Spain and Portugal. Being able to communicate with the locals and getting to know real life in another country sparked my desire to travel further afield.

After graduating, I pursued a career in travel where I was lucky enough to visit far flung destinations, including Vietnam, Bali, Hawaii and Alaska. My job also took me to Vancouver where I lived for three years, spending most of my weekends snowboarding, hiking or camping. One of my most memorable experiences is dog sledding and seeing the Northern Lights in the Yukon; a truly spectacular sight.

Before returning to the UK from Canada, I spent a month travelling in Colombia. The diverse landscape of this fascinating and hospitable country took me from the depths of the Amazon rainforest to the remote desert of the Guajira Peninsula, where I had the opportunity to learn to kitesurf.

After a brief time working in e-commerce, I realised travel is where my passion lies, which is why I joined Steppes.
