John Faithfull
John has checked out a great selection of Saint Lucia’s properties and was entirely won over by a boutique option with just three walls, the missing fourth perfectly framing a view of the Twin Pitons.

For anyone who becomes a little bored with just lying on a beach, Saint Lucia provides enough additional activities to stimulate the mind.
The interior is lush and dramatic, the colonial architecture and bright colours of the houses are photographically enchanting and the island is big enough to warrant exploration. Add the French legacy of some excellent restaurants, lovely hotels, white sand beaches and superb snorkelling and diving. Meanwhile, Saint Lucians are incredibly social and it is almost impossible not to get caught up in the party scene with the numerous festivals and street gatherings.
An exploration of the west coast of Saint Lucia, from its bays and beaches to its rainforests and waterfalls, this journey strikes the perfect balance between idyllic relaxation and muddy escapades.
At 27 miles long and rising to a height of nearly 1,000m in the centre, Saint Lucia is far from being an isolated patch of Caribbean sand. Add in a history that has seen the island oscillate between being French and British no less than 14 times over 200 years and it is hardly surprising that it remains a cultural melting pot of Amerindian, European and African influences.
Authentic Saint Lucian island life can be discovered in the colourful former capital of Soufriere, which spreads back from the seafront up to the steep amphitheatre of volcanic ridges that embrace this charming Caribbean town. The French Catholic church occupies a central position, overlooking a collection of colourful houses and shacks, while the twin sentinels of the Piton Mountains stand guard at the bay’s entrance.
There is something rather exclusive and endearing about the Caribbean archipelago, which I have been fortunate enough to explore in depth throughout my years working in travel. Despite the quintessential trios of sun, sea and sand that can be found on these islands, each boasts its own unique features. Enter: Saint Lucia.
