Combine Botswana and South Africa for an incredible photographic safari. Begin in Mashatu, with its wonderful waterhole hides and expert photographic tuition, before exploring the fascinating landscapes of the northern Kruger, in search of big and small game.
- Take advantage of the fantastic photographic hides at Mashatu
- Learn from the resident wildlife photographer as part of two days of expert tuition
- Explore the wilder northern landscapes of the Kruger National Park
- Experience The Outpost’s stunning locale; capture wonderful photos of both wildlife and terrain
This journey focuses on wildlife and photography, combining one of Botswana’s lesser known gems with – arguably – South Africa’s greatest natural wonder. The photographic experience begins instantly, with two days of focussed tuition at Mashatu Tented Camp. Learn from the camp’s expert photographic guide whilst out in search of wildlife or whilst waiting patiently in wonderfully constructed hides. Mashatu is renowned for the photographic opportunities it provides, with numerous species of birds and game – big and small – to be spotted in this lost corner of Botswana.
Following two days of tuition and time spent in specialised hides, set out with more freedom to explore. Take a walking safari; get closer to nature and have the chance to photograph from a different perspective. Led by a knowledgeable walking guide, hike across the harsh terrain of the Mashatu Reserve, part of the Tuli Block. Stop to discuss and photograph the microfauna, plant species and animal tracks.
KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
Afterwards, leave Botswana behind for the acacia thickets, baobab-dotted grasslands and mopane forests of the northern Kruger. Staying at the stunningly positioned Outpost, which looks out over the beautiful Luvuvhu River Valley, spend time exploring the park on foot and by 4x4.
The terrain particularly attracts curious leopards – who love the craggy, rocky landscape – but is home to a wide variety of wildlife. This combination of excellent game viewing and wonderful backdrops makes for excellent photography. With four nights at The Outpost, opportunities for capturing incredible photos abound and the luxurious accommodation allows for relaxation away from the camera.
WHY WE LIKE IT
This photographic safari combines indulgent comfort with African wilderness, and big game with captivating landscapes. Mashatu’s photographic focus provides a fantastic experience for photographers of all levels, whilst The Outpost offers the chance to capture the riches of the Kruger through the lens.
