Boasting panoramic views of the surrounding tundra and sea, the Seal River Lodge offers fantastic opportunities for bear viewing and spotting wildlife.

Polar bears roam the area and the lodge has a large fenced space at the rear, which almost guarantees an up-close encounter with one of these powerful creatures.

The lodge also has an observation tower and can make for spectacular aurora viewing in the winter months. In the summer, Hudson Bay is teeming with beluga whales and Seal River Lodge can arrange trips to spot the whales by kayak.

The lodge itself is a cosy wooden building, with a sociable lounge area that is heated by a roaring fireplace. The dining room with large communal dining tables has a panoramic view across the bay. Rooms are simple, but comfortable, and look out over either the Arctic tundra or the Hudson Bay.

Why we like Seal River Heritage Lodge

A really remote and cosy lodge, there are excellent chances of seeing polar bears relaxing or playing often experienced while on foot safaris. With bears’ innate curiosity and the large fenced area at the rear of the lodge, you can have very close encounters where you are the exhibit in the cage!
