Matamanene Camp

A simple, isolated camp, Matamanene was originally built as a home for the researchers and rangers of Liuwa Plains National Park. Brick and thatched structures now form the communal hub of the camp, but tradition-style safari tents remain.

Just four tents are set amidst a small group of trees, hidden amongst the vast expanse of the surrounding plains. Raised slightly off the ground, these comfortable canvas spaces feature en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water.

The camp's central area is home to a small library, relaxed lounge area, bar and dining room. As darkness falls, the campfire inevitably bursts into life - the flames dancing under the mesmerising African night sky.
