Palacio Astoreca

Valparaiso, Chile

Flanked by hilly streets and inventive graffiti-covered buildings, Palacio Astoreca is a former Victorian palace turned elegant boutique hotel that is nestled within the historic quarter of Valparaiso.

A bright and contemporary piano bar often hosts live musicians at sunset, while a plush library houses hundreds of books with an emphasis on Chilean authors and travel writing.

Its 23 artistic rooms offer views over the bay or the hillside and are decorated with flashes of colour and illustrated wallpapers, while some boast in-room bathtubs and huge panoramic terraces. An in-house dark slate spa features a firewood heated indoor pool, steam bath, hot tub and massage room, and a wine cellar houses some of Chile’s finest varieties.
