Luciano is a Bird and Wildlife Guide and Sustainability Coordinator at Pousada Trijuncao. He is a keen conservationist and professional ornithologist and with a masters degree in zoology. He grew up in southern Minas Gerais surrounded by nature, spending his time exploring the depths of the Itatiaia National Park spotting elusive birds, learning their names and collecting specimens.

At just 15 years old, he started offering guided bird-watching walks to national and international visitors to identify the variety of species which inhabit the forests of the park.

Following his degree and masters, he went on to establish the first Brazilian Bird Observatory and now coordinates three observatories as well as teaching courses in ornithology at the Institute Butantan in Sao Paulo.

He is a strong believer in connecting people with nature and how this relationship can go on to be a transformative experience for many. He feels that tourism can be essential in helping people understand the importance of the protection of species and biodiversity and also inspire them in their own conservation efforts.
