Situated within the tropical lowland rainforest of the Danum Valley Conservation Area, Borneo Rainforest Lodge offers 31 timber chalets and a true jungle experience. Deluxe chalets have a balcony with river or jungle views plus some have their own outdoor hot tub or even a private plunge pool.
The communal dining area and bar offer a great spot to relax with a drink at the end of the day, immersed in the sounds of the night.
Why we like Borneo Rainforest Lodge
A stay here is a real chance to experience some of the most pristine rainforest left in Malaysian Borneo. The guides are excellent, and there is also a good chance of seeing orangutan in the wild.
A stay here is very much about experiencing the rainforest so there is no communal pool or spa. The large dining area and verandah are the perfect spot from which to soak up the jungle views and spot wildlife.
Trek one of the rainforest trails, head up into the treetops on the 26-metre-high canopy walkway and take a night safari. Take a boat trip or tubing on the river and there are some beautiful waterfalls, perfect to bathe in. Wildlife in the area is rich and includes many birds, pygmy elephants, proboscis monkey, flying squirrels and of course orangutan.
Being in the middle of a conservation area, Borneo Rainforest Lodge takes its responsibility towards the environment seriously. Where ever possible the lodge uses only green products with zero chemical detergents, reusable water bottles are provided, and solar energy used.
Located deep in rainforest around a three-hour drive from the nearest airport at Lahad Datu.
