Day 1

Fly London to Tel Aviv

Only a century old, Tel Aviv is a young city in a country packed with ancient settlements. Meaning 'Hill of Spring', the city has grown rapidly since independence and is now Israel's second largest city, after Jerusalem.

A relaxed, modern and surprisingly liberal city, Tel Aviv is the heart of contemporary Israel. Looking out over the azure blue waters of the Mediterranean, the city benefits from a relaxed beach vibe as well as a lively art and music scene.

Day 2

Travel from Tel Aviv to Tiberias Via Caesarea, Haifa & Acre

Travel up the scenic coast to Caesarea, ancient capital of the Roman province, to view the remains of Roman and Crusader structures. This 2000 year old city - built to honor Augustus Caesar - was once the capital of the Roman province and was later occupied by the Crusaders.

Continue on to visit the seaport city of Haifa with its beautiful Bahai gardens, before travelling on to Acre, the ancient Phoenician and Crusader seaport, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Held by the Ottoman Turks in the 18th century, the city successfully repelled an attack by Napoleon, who laid siege on the town for two months without breaching its defenses. Tour the Crusader Knights' Halls and the covered markets.

A journey time of approximately one hour

Built by Herod the Great's son, on top of a Jewish graveyard, Tiberias was constructed as a tribute to the Roman emperor of the same name in the first century AD. Due to its unfortunate location, the town initially struggled to attract residents. Now however, it is one of Judaism's four holy cities and an important place of pilgrimage.

Looking out over the Sea of Galilee, the town is a lively, vibrant place that is slightly at odds with its ultra-orthodox roots. Also famous for its hot springs, these have been known for their curative properties for thousands of years.

Day 3

Full Day Sightseeing of Sea of Galilee & Golan Heights
Set off on a shared boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. View the church at Tagha, which commemorates the feeding of the 5000 and the Mount of Beatitudes, scene of the Sermon on the Mount. Stop at Capernaum to see the ancient synagogue where Jesus taught.

Continue to the beautiful Tel Dan, location of the largest spring in the Middle East.

One of the sources of the River Jordan, Tel Dan is situated on the Lebanese border. Within this fertile national park, explore the remains of one of the ancient royal cities of the northern kingdom of Israel.

Day 4

Travel from Tiberias to Jerusalem Via Sephoris, Nazareth & Bet Alpha

Start with a visit to Sephhoris, a site with rich heritage including Assyrian, Hellenistic, Judean, Babylonian, Roman Byzantine Islamic Crusader, Arab and Ottoman. The town was once the centre of Jewish spiritual life in the Galilee and has fascinating remains and mosaics. Then to Nazareth to see the Basilica of the Annunciation built on the spot where the Archangel Gabriel is supposed to have informed the Virgin Mary that God has chosen her to bear his son. Visit the Beit Alfa Synagogue National Park to see the Byzantine-era synagogue which has a mosaic floor depicting the lunar Hebrew months as they correspond to the signs of the zodiac. Then drive down the Jordan valley to Jerusalem.

Steeped in religion, fiercely disputed and rich in history; Jerusalem is one of the oldest continually occupied cities in the world. Sacred to the three largest monotheistic faiths, the city was founded almost 7,000 years ago.

Claimed as capital by both Israelis and Palestinians alike, Jerusalem's in-limbo status doesn't prevent it being one of the greatest sites of pilgrimage in the world. Religious wonders pack its streets and the faithful come in droves to pay their respects.

Day 5

Full Day Tour of Jerusalem
A full tour of the Old City of Jerusalem will introduce you to this place of intense sanctity to Jews, Christians and Muslims, where holy sites tumble over each other. Visit the sites most holy to the non-Christian faiths; the Kotel (Western Wall of the Second Temple), and visit or view the Dome of the Rock. Your expert guide will unpeel layers of history and provide an overview of what Jerusalem means to the three monotheistic religions. Explore the Christian heritage of the Old City more deeply, exploring sites such as the Garden of Gethsemane, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, sections of the Via Dolorosa, and Mount Zion including the tomb of King David and the room of the last supper. See iconic views over Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, an important heritage site mentioned in both the Old and New Testaments as the place from which the resurection of the dead will occur, and as a place from which Jesus preached and ascended to heaven. Throughout the tour you will focus on Jesus's acts in the holy city, his crucifixion and ultimate rising. We have specifically noted that you would like to cover the following sites: Mount of Olives, Garden of Gethseme, Old City, Al-Aqsa Mosque & Dome of the Rock, Via Dolorosa, Mount Zion, Via Dolorosa, Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Day 6

Full Days Sightseeing of New Jerusalem & Bethlehem
Begin with a visit to Yad Vashem - the Jewish people's memorial to the six million lives lost to the Holocaust. Visit the museum and walk along the Street of the Righteous, dedicated to the non-Jews who risked their lives during the Holocaust.

Next drive past the Knesset, Israel's parliament enroute to the Israel museum where you will see the fascinating model of Jerusalem as it was during the time of the Second Temple and the shrine of the book, home of the Dead Sea scrolls.

Visit Bethlehem and the Church of the Nativity, which rests over the cave where Jesus was born, originally built by the Emperor Constantine in the 4th century.

Day 7

Full Day Sightseeing to Qumran and Masada
Start the day with a sweeping view of Jerusalem from the Mt of Olives before heading along the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth, to Masada. Arguably Israel's most dramatic site, Masada's mountain top ruins, set against the extraordinary backdrop of the Judean desert, are a stage for the retelling of an heroic and ancient tale, now engrained in national mythology. Take the cable-car up to the last stronghold of the Zealots to see Herod's palaces, baths and other excavations that tell the story of the dramatic events that took place here.

En route back to Jerusalem head down to the Jordan Valley to Qumran, located on the Dead Sea's northern shore. Now a national park, Qumran was once the home of the Essenes, a secluded desert sect that produced the Dead Sea Scrolls. In 1947, a young Bedouin shepherd discovered manuscript fragments in the caves hidden for centuries in clay jars. The fragments from the Books of Exodus, Isaiah and Psalms are now on exhibit in the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.
