Hotel Illomba

The quiet Hotel Ilomba is found next to the small fishing village of Bwambe, itself close to the town of Kribi. Surrounded by tropical gardens, this relaxed property is a favourite haunt of expats and people from Douala who want to enjoy some time on the coast.

With this comes much better levels of service and food than most other places in the country. A pretty sandy beach runs out towards the Gulf of Guinea, dotted with shaded day beds on one side and traditional wooden pirogues on the other. The beach is within walking distance of the spectacular Lobe Falls, past traditional fishermen tending their nets in the shade of palm trees. The 20 rooms are housed within 10 bungalows, which are dotted throughout the colourful tropical gardens. Inside, they are simply decorated, with whitewashed walls and tiled floors, but all have air conditioning and en-suite bathrooms. The relaxed beach bar is a great place to enjoy a cold drink, whereas the restaurant, set back in the gardens, serves delicious local food. This is one of the nicest properties in the country.
