Our travel experts have years of knowledge and between them and have personally inspected or travelled on board many of the boats we offer.
A small steam powered boat, the MISR Royal Steamer was originally commissioned by the British Royal Navy and launched in 1918 when she journeyed 3276 nautical miles from England to Alexandria.
Steeped in history she has since served in multiple wars and been the private yacht to Egypt’s last Monarch, King Farouk before being restored and rebuilt to her original drawings in 2006.
If you have arrived on this page looking for the Steam Ship Sudan, we no longer sell her. MISR Royal Steam Ship is now our preferred steam ship on the Nile.
Each of the 24 cabins is individually decorated, all with ensuite bathrooms and all have floor to ceiling windows giving access to a private balcony or terrace. Cabins are made up of 14 double or twin, eight suites including two panorama suites with dual aspect views and two single cabins. Additional facilities include a private dock in Luxor, a choice of sun decks, swimming pool and restaurant.
Every cabin has access to private outdoor space, a rarity on the Nile, and we know from experience that a morning coffee or tea as the river glides past and Egypt awakens is a beautiful way to start the day. As well as a character and history like no other on the Nile she also has a 2:1 staff-to-guest ratio, so the service onboard is hard to beat.
Onboard dining offers the finest Egyptian cuisine and is served in the boat’s charming restaurant. After dinner, retire to one of the lounge areas for a drink accompanied by the resident pianist or watch the sunset from the top deck. As well as plenty of time to relax by the pool and watch the beautiful Nile scenery drift by, there is, of course, a wealth of fabulous historical sites to experience. Sightseeing is done in small groups using the best Egyptologists.
Cruise between Luxor and Aswan in either direction, over three or four nights or a return cruise from Luxor over seven nights.
