With the dramatic black swimming pool, tennis courts, a lovely spa and water sports, the Surin is a stunning choice in an idyllic location.

Elephant Hills, Khao Sok £££££

  • Thailand
  • Wilderness

Elephant Hills, and its sister property, the floating Rainforest Camp, are both found in the lush green landscapes of Khao Sok National Park, a mere two hours from Phuket. Both combine comfortable but rustic tents, more akin to Africa than Thailand with proper beds, ensuite showers and a small terrace with hammocks. While staying here guests walk and hike, spot wildlife or explore the mangroves by canoe but the focus here is all about the elephant, working hard to prevent human-elephant conflict, care of former logging elephants or those working in the tourist industry.
