Named after the Darwin finches that frequent the surrounding area, Finch Bay Hotel is nestled across from Puerto Ayora in a quiet oceanfront location on Santa Cruz Island.

The property features 27 rooms and suites, an outdoor pool and a restaurant that serves locally-inspired cuisine. The property is flexible in that it offers stays on only a bed and breakfast basis right through to a complete full-board package with daily guided land and sea excursions.

Activities

Guests can head out to the water for scuba diving, snorkelling, kayaking and surfing excursions at various sites around Santa Cruz Island or on other nearby islands, or venture out on land-based biking and hiking trip. It is possible to have guided wildlife observations with Galapagos National Park guides or visit the giant tortoises in the highlands of Santa Cruz Island.

There are day trips by private yacht to Bartolome Island, North Seymour Island, South Plaza Islands and Santa Fe Island, and scuba diving can also be arranged. There are plenty of opportunities for bird-watching, kayaking, snorkelling and mountain biking, and a number of interesting walking trails that lead to the nearby Tortuga Bay.

Sustainability

Metropolitan recently installed 364 solar panels at Finch Bay Hotel in the Galapagos Islands. They will produce 300,000 kWh annually and will cover 50% of their energy needs. This is the largest solar energy project installed in any hotel in the archipelago.
