The Four Seasons Sultanahmet is a luxury hotel in the old quarter of Istanbul a short walk from the Topkapi Palace and the Blue Mosque. An ideal point from which to explore it is just five minutes from the covered bazaar and spice market.
Once a Turkish prison, this striking mustard coloured building is now a three-story neoclassical hotel with 65 rooms and suites set around a landscaped courtyard garden. Comfortable and well equipped, the rooms all overlook either the central courtyard or outwards to the Blue Mosque.
Facilities include a fitness centre as well as access to the pool and other facilities at the Four Seasons Hotel Istanbul at the Bosphorus.
Why we like it
This Istanbul hotel is in a fantastic location, just five minutes from the covered bazaar and spice market. It has a small and intimate atmosphere with wonderful service and as well as being a luxury hotel, they have also managed to retain some of the quirky history surrounding the building including an inmate’s inscription on one of the marble pillars and the lifts housed in what were originally the Watchtowers. The rooftop also has stunning views of Hagia Sophia, wonderful when illuminated at night.
