Spain is a passionate and culturally rich country famous for its glittering beaches, historic cities, diverse landscapes and many enduring cultures and traditions.
Why we like Spain
With some of Europe’s most celebrated historical cities, charming whitewashed villages with meandering cobbled streets, craggy mountains, fertile valleys, cork forests and rolling hills and meadows plus twenty three natural parks Andalusia is one of Spain's most diverse regions. Spain may not be an obvious choice for Steppes Travel but we think it's the perfect destination perfect for a long weekend with a climate to suit everyone from hot, dry summers to mild winters heralding clear sunny days and cooler evenings.
What to expect on your Spanish Holiday
Andalucia is located in Southern Spain fringed by the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean and the Strait of Gibraltar, which separates Spain from Morocco. This region is rich in contrast and home to everything that is quintessentially Spanish, conjuring up images of colourful fiestas, passionate flamenco dancers, tapas and chilled sherry, clear blue skies and glorious sunshine. It's coastline of golden sands boasts more than 3,000 hours of sunshine every year.
Successive invaders have left their mark on Andalucia, most notably the Moors who ruled here for almost eight centuries. The monuments left in their wake represent some of Spain’s greatest architectural heritage. The Alhambra, described as 'the most sensual building in Europe', is a definite must see. While the Mezquita, Cordobas' great mosque, Seville's Royal Palace and La Giralda, the tower adjoining the city's huge Gothic cathedral, are examples of the architectural brilliance of the North African conquerors.
