The only lodge on this tiny, coral island, Alphonse is the quintessential island escape. This cluster of spacious suites and beach bungalows sits amidst tropical vegetation, looking out towards the endless ocean.
There are 26 rooms in total, each one just metres from the coralline white beach. They are styled in a comfortable desert-island style, with local creole influences. Both bungalows and suites have private patios attached, where private dinners can be arranged.
Why We Like It
Although relaxed and remote, Alphonse Island Lodge is far more than just a beach resort. The remarkable location offers some of the best diving and fishing in the Indian Ocean, with its unspoilt reefs attracting a variety of marine life. Other activities include snorkelling, fly fishing, sunset cruises, kayaking, sailing, rowing and island walks.
The lodge works side by side with the Island Conservation Centre to preserve the atoll ecosystems on which it depends. In conjunction with the centre, Alphonse Lodge offers turtle patrols, beach clean-ups, giant tortoise viewing and bird-watching excursions.
