Our Specialists 'must do'

On the border with neighbouring Tuscany is Lago Trasimeno. Surrounded by woodland, olive groves and the medieval villages of Castiglione del Lago and Magione this is a less visited part of Umbria and a relaxing and charming spot to spend a few days on the waters edge.

A little more about umbria

Umbria is often referred to as Italy's "green heart" and is a beautiful region full of hill towns, cliffside castles as well as stunning mountain scenery and a rich culture of food and wine.  Located in central Italy this lovely region is often overlooked for neighbouring Tuscany and it shouldn't be! With scenery to rival its neighbour from vineyards to olive groves and the Monti Sibillini mountains. There are a wide choice of pretty hill towns from Perugia to Assisi, Orvieto and Norcia or for those seeking a more outdoors experience, there is plenty of walking and cycling to be done. Combined with the delicious cuisine for which this region is famed, from truffles to cured meats and full bodied wines, and offering charming boutique hotels, Umbria is a wonderful alternative to Tuscany.
