Journey overland on iconic Route 66 to the Grand Canyon and, rather than loitering with the crowds on the rim, venture on foot to the secret places below. Cross tropical blue streams, wade through lush meadows of wild grapevines and clamber up narrow canyons, arriving at a private camp in a place that is home to around 450 Havasupai people. Paddle beneath a pristine 60-metre waterfall as your private guides prepare dinner, before settling down for a peaceful slumber in your spacious tent (or perhaps under the stars). Avoid the steep trek out of the canyon by taking a short helicopter flight to the canyon rim, admiring the spectacular scale of the Grand Canyon from above.
Drive through Monument Valley, a Navajo Tribal Park and one of the grandest and most photographed landmarks in the USA. In the company of a Navajo Hatalii (or medicine-man), circle through incredible tribal lands on a narrated journey focusing on the cultural significance of the plateau that is characterised by a cluster of huge sandstone buttes. This exclusive tour opens up areas that the general public does not have access to, including a visit to Navajo Hogan where a number of native artefacts are kept.
Stay on the edge of Lake Powell, a huge reservoir on the Colorado River, where there are extensive opportunities for impressive hiking, heart-pounding rappelling and leisurely kayaking. With the sheer red-rock walls of the Canyon soaring 500 metres above, journey downstream on one of the most dramatic stretches of the Colorado River atop a float. Stop to take a dip in the cold clear waters of the river and have lunch at Petroglyph Beach. We can also arrange private houseboat tours or trips aboard captained vessels.
Discover the unique geography of Zion National Park, renowned for its sandstone cliffs, narrow slot canyons and distinctive flora and fauna. Looking out for mountain lions, mule deer and condors, it is possible to embark on canyoning or 4×4 tours through the park’s sandstone cliffs. We can arrange expertly guided hikes through its narrow river-carved canyons, enriching yoga sessions beside meandering rivers or rousing mountain bike adventures through classic badlands panoramas. Golden hour workshops in the company of a professional photographer and unforgettable scenic helicopter tours are other exclusive options in Zion.
Against the sprawling and unmatched landscape of Bryce Canyon, spend a day exploring its natural amphitheatres full of crimson-coloured hoodoos (pillars of rock formed by wind, water and ice erosion). In this forest of stone, we can arrange a private dark sky Milky Way photography workshop, horseback rides with a local cowboy or intimate stargazing experiences with a professional astronomer in one of the darkest skies in North America.
