For a holiday which combines culture, history, wildlife and beach, Belize presents unlimited opportunities, packed as it is with nature reserves, national parks, archaeological ruins and a barrier reef that is the envy of the world. Journey times can be longer than you might expect, but the journey is always part of the enjoyment and the friendliness of the people make up for any shortcomings.
Belize: What to Expect
Culturally Belize has more in common with the Caribbean rather than its Spanish speaking neighbours and while there are some really excellent hotels, lodges and resorts, the infrastructure creaks at the joints. Don’t expect lightning fast service. Life moves at a sedate pace and it is better to join it.

January to March is the driest and coolest time of year in Belize. It is the ideal time to explore the jungle and Mayan architecture, or simply relax on the beach. It is peak season, so it is worth booking in advance to secure the best accommodation.
