Orcas Island, San Juan Islands, WA, USA

Pacific Northwest

The Pacific Northwest states of Washington and Oregon are scenically stunning areas, laid back in attitude and have far fewer tourists than other areas. The landscapes are varied from snow-capped mountains to raging rivers, ancient forests to remote beaches: there is plenty to see and explore.

This area is geared up for outdoor enthusiasts with endless activities on offer, go hiking, biking, kayaking, climbing or fishing to name a few. As well as the scenery, the area is perfect for foodies. There is a passion for farm-to-table produce, plenty of wineries to visit and dozens of artisan coffee roasters.

The Cascade Mountains

The Cascade Mountain Range creates the spine of this region running from California in the south to Washington in the north. The dramatic and scenically spectacular Columbia River Gorge cuts through the range and marks the state line between Oregon and Washington. The gorge stretches over 80 miles and at over 1,000 metres deep it is the largest National Scenic Area in the USA. The views from Crown Point, a headland 200 meters above the river, are panoramic and unforgettable. A popular destination for both adventurers and families alike, it offers a wealth of outdoor activities from mountain biking to white water rafting.
