Mughsayl Beach, Salalah, Oman

Salalah

Salalah is the capital of Dhofar, the southern region of Oman. It is a city set amongst coconut groves and banana plantations, sprawled along sandy beaches that run the length of its plain.

Salalah is the capital of Dhofar, the southern region of Oman. The lush vegetation makes Salalah seem almost tropical coupled with the summer monsoon known as the Khareef. Salalah is home to frankincense souqs, historic sites that are the gateway to the Empty Quarter and an incredible area to view humpback and blue whales.

If you want to experience the wider Oman then include Salalah and discover more of the varied history, landscapes, wildlife and culture of this fascinating country.

A little more about Salalah

Following the khareef or summer monsoon, Salalah has a greener, more lush feel than the rest of Oman, allowing tropical fruit to grow and the wadis to fill with spring water. With white-sand beaches, incredible whale watching possibilities, smaller souqs and vastly less visited sites, Salalah is a most worthwhile addition to an Omani holiday.

Katie Benden

The excitement of travelling the world has always hugely appealed. Largely cemented from my first solo trip to Egypt and the Middle East. The crazy hustle and bustle of Cairo was a huge assault on the senses, scrambling through the claustrophobic tunnels of the Great pyramid took me out of my comfort zone and I was left humbled by the warm hospitality of the Nubian people in Aswan as we shared dinner together.

Having travelled to different parts of the world over the years it never ceases to amaze me how you constantly learn and evolve from the adventures you experience. I adore working in an environment where I can share my passion for the world and discuss fascinating stories both from my experiences and that of our clients. In the past year I’ve delved into the wintery beauty of St Petersburg, trekked through the colourful desert in Jordan and sailed down the iconic Nile in Egypt.
