Bandhavgarh National Park

Bandhavgarh is located amongst the Vindya Hills of Madhya Pradesh and consists of a relatively small core area of 105 sq km, with a buffer area of approximately 400 sq km.

The setting of Bandhavgarh is impressive – the ruins of the ancient fort, the archaeological remains of the Kachin period and the numerous prehistoric caves around the park provide a stunning backdrop.

Bandhavgarh has a high density of tigers. There are approximately 90 tigers, 25 leopards, chital, sambar, langur monkeys, jackals and a number of bird species.

Why Choose Bandhavgarh National Park

Like other parks, Bandhavgarh has been divided into zones. Sightings are generally quite good in all zones but the Tala Zone is considered the premium zone because of its tiger population and also attractions, such as the Bandhavgarh Fort and Vishnu Temple. However, due to its good tiger population and relatively small size, visitors to Bandhavgarh have experienced issues with online bookings, signage and poor guiding practices, as well as some conservation issues and lots of jeeps.

Bandhavgarh is accessed from Delhi by a short flight to Khajuraho followed by a six-hour drive. There are overnight train options but we wouldn’t recommend these. Combines well with visits to Panna and Kanha.

My travels were first inspired by my love of the UK, which I take as much pleasure in exploring as countries far and wide. For me, travel is all about the adventure, the people I meet and the food I sample along the way.
