Located two hundred and forty kilometres to the south-east of the mainland and separated by the Bass Strait, Tasmania’s habitat is significantly different from the rest of Australia.
Over a third of the island is covered by National Parks and World Heritage sites, perfect for travellers looking for an un-spoilt natural environment with some of the countries most fascinating and varied wildlife. Landscapes range from grassland moors and soaring peaks which rise above beautiful mountain lakes and mighty river systems. Meanwhile, the coastline offers some of Australia’s most rugged wilderness with fjords, large bays, magnificent beaches and dramatic sea cliffs.
