Tuli Block

An oft-overlooked part of Botswana that offers a different experience to Chobe, the Okavango or the Kalahari.

Now one of the biggest private parks in southern Africa, the block offers outstanding beauty, sites of historical interests, well-habituated wildlife and the ‘Grey Giants’ – the elephants and grand baobab trees.

A little more about the Tuli Block

Tuli Block is an area of reclaimed farmland, allowed to return to its natural habitat, and where native wildlife has been carefully re-introduced. Rainy days are relatively rare, almost guaranteeing good weather.

Photographic opportunities abound at Mashatu Tented Camp – renowned for its excellent hides and expert guides.

Mashatu Tented Camp

Immersed in the bush, the Mashatu Tented Camp lies at the heart of this private reserve. Eight private tents shelter beneath the branches of towering trees, linked by a network of winding pathways.

At night, the camp’s boma is lit by firelight and looks out over a floodlit waterhole – frequented by a wide variety of game.

Illona Cross

Born in a small South African town, I have always followed my passion for nature and discovery. After studying Nature Conservation in Pretoria, I was one of the first women to complete a very tough cadetship in the Natal Parks Board. It was here where I cut my teeth in African wildlife management.

Chris Johnston

25 years ago, my first trip to Africa took on a life of its own. I planned for three months, I stayed for two years. Whilst there, I was mistaken for a priest, attacked by sharks and arrested. Yet the countless, clattering journeys opened my eyes to the beauty of the landscapes and the grace of the people. My recent trips are undoubtedly more comfortable, but the welcome is as warm as ever and the best experiences are still those I never see coming.
