We are delighted to announce that Pumulani Luxury Beach Lodge has been voted as Malawi’s Leading Hotel 2011 at the World Travel Awards, which is the most prestigious and highly covered awards programme in the global travel industry, which is sure to substantially heighten Robin Pope Safaris’ international profile.

The Awards were described by The Wall Street Journal as the ‘Oscars’ of travel and tourism. This year, a phenomenal 213,000 industry professionals participated in the voting process, which is scrupulously monitored and independently audited. This triumph was officially announced at a red-carpet awards gala ceremony which took place at the Soho Square in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, on the 16th September.

Named after the native word for “rest well”, Pumulani is made up of 10 large villas, each with a private balcony. Facing Lake Malawi, with large panoramic windows, the villas provide the ultimate setting for a peaceful getaway. Guests can either relax or enjoy as many activities as they like, the lake is perfect for sailing, diving, wake boarding, snorkelling and fishing, but to really experience it, take to its waters for a sunset cruise aboard the lodge’s 12 metre dhow, spotting the rare and colourful fish that thrive there.
