The Mhondoro Villa is ideal for a family or small group booking of up to six guests, with its own private pool, spa, game viewing vehicle, ranger and private chef. The Main Lodge is the entry point to a 65 metre walk through tunnel which leads to an intimate underground waterhole hide. This hide provides an incredible opportunity to get up close to the wildlife drinking from the waterhole, without having to wait for a ranger or a scheduled game drive. Being in wildlife without disturbing them provides photography enthusiasts with the ultimate vantage point for one-in-a-lifetime photo opportunities.
Visit two rock art sites within Welgevonden Game Reserve, discover layers of San Bushman ‘fineline’ paintings as well as finger painted images and learn more about the artists. While accompanied by an experienced ranger, track white rhinos on foot and observe them in their natural habitat. The reserve’s renowned anti-poaching unit has ensured that not one of these beautiful animals has ever been lost to poaching – an incredible feat on a continent where the practice is endemic.
The reserve is home to over 50 different animal species, including the Big Five, and over 300 bird species, including the rare blue crane. Journey on a game drive or bush walk and find out about the wonders of the wilderness as you get up close and personal with nature. Spend time on the star deck, which has a high powered telescope, and gaze up at the vast African night sky.
The Mhondoro Wilderness School is a unique opportunity that has been created to provide several children the chance to receive a life-changing education, one that they wouldn’t receive under normal circumstances. The school focuses on 11 subjects to develop both standard and unique skills and is open to children two years and older.
