Blue Waters Inn is a charming hotel hidden away from the islands main tourist areas and nestled at the foot of the eastern mountain ranges amidst 46 acres of tropical rainforest. There is a range of water-based activities available during a stay here and the region is renowned for its excellent diving. The resort has an onsite PADI 5-star dive operation including two dive boats. Snorkelling is also possible as well as kayaking, fishing charters and glass bottom boat tours. There is also some lovely bird watching trails through the grounds and knowledgeable guides can be arranged. Away from the hotel yet within easy reach is the bird sanctuary at Little Tobago and St Giles Island, home to the region’s largest seabird colony.
Located on the east coast of Graham Island, the largest and northernmost of Haida Gwaii’s island archipelago. Close to the village of Tlell, Haida House is reached by air from Vancouver, followed by a 45-minute drive from Masset airport.

The continental origin and proximity of Trinidad to South America, as well as a multiplicity of habitats, have resulted in an unusually diverse fauna. The species lists are impressive: 108 mammals; 460 birds; 55 reptiles and 617 butterflies. No other area in the West Indies can match this species diversity. The climate at the Nature Centre is tropical and humid. However, its mid-montane location tempers the heat to a pleasant 18-30°C. The long dry season, when the striking vegetation is in bloom, lasts from January until May. The balance of the year constitutes the rainy season.
Cuffie River Nature Retreat is located on the edge of the oldest protected rain forest in the western hemisphere. Turn south off the main north coast road and a two-mile drive along a rough track will take you to the door of this charming retreat tucked away in the Runnemede Valley, alongside a stream and surrounded by lush vegetation. There are just 10 simple rooms, each with a private balcony, tea & coffee making facilities and wi-fi. Regina, the owner, provides a very warm welcome and her kitchen produces some tasty Caribbean dishes. An elevated outside pool offers great views across the valley.
