The Bear Cave Mountain Adventures camp is a remote camp located in the Fishing Branch Ni’iinlii Njik Park in the Yukon Territory, where the primary activity is bear viewing.
Accommodation at Bear Cave Mountain Adventures Camp comprises of rustic cabins carefully located to minimise the impact on the environment. Each cabin has a wood burning stove and LED lighting via the camp generator. There is a separate showering facility. A communal building provides the centre of camp housing the dining room for meals and a living room area for relaxing and evening activities.
Not only is this one of the most unique bear viewing experiences in the world in one of the most remote locations, but the camp is also for just four guests and two members of staff. The camp is also open for just six weeks of the year. Not many can claim to have had this experience. Be one of the few.
Thermal spring-fed rivers, allow warm waters to flow during winter’s first snows, and the late salmon run gives the grizzly bears the last feast before hibernation. During the Autumn months, the bears feature with immaculate pelts chasing and catching chum salmon as they arrive on the spawning grounds. The winter weeks highlight the unique “Ice Bear” phenomena. The Grizzlies here, are dubbed the ‘ice bears’ due to the ice that forms on their coats. After just moments of submersion whilst fishing for salmon, their coats freeze once they are exposed to the sub-zero air temperature. Other wildlife viewing is possible at Bear Cave Mountain Adventures. Moose, caribou, wolves and marten are all in the area and with a little bit of luck even wolverines. A variety of water birds are a common sight including various birds of prey.

Situated in the Canadian Northwest Territories that neighbour the Yukon, Blachford Lake Lodge is a half-hour float plane flight from Yellowknife, the capital. The remote location means no light pollution and the lodge is one of the best places to observe the Aurora borealis. Blachford Lake Lodge can accommodate up to 65 guests in rooms in the main lodge and additional cabins are heated by wood-burning stoves.
