 Colonia del Sacramento

Your holiday to Uruguay begins in quirky Montevideo before transferring to the historic town of Colonia de Sacramento home to cobbled streets and painted houses fronted by sycamore trees.  A guided walking tour is the best way to explore the old forts and Portuguese heritage as well as the interesting museums.  Spend the afternoon at a local winery tasting Uruguay’s signature wine, Tannat.

Travel to Carmelo visiting Jesuit ruins and the wineries in the area.  Depending on the season it can be possible to see the harvesting and bottling process.  Stay at the delightful Finca Narbona Wine Lodge where you can experience a picnic lunch in the vineyards and a cheese and wine pairing session.

Passing through Montevideo take time out to visit the old part of the city as well as several museums and the Solis Theatre.  Leaving the capital city behind, continue to the department of Rocha and the Estancia Charabon.  Relax by the pool or horse ride across the plains and experience life at a working hacienda.

Cabo Polonio

From Charabon take the opportunity for a privately guided hike to Cabo Polonio village. Explore the sand dunes and this tiny hamlet, cut off from resources such as electricity and running water.  Visit one of the largest sea lion colonies in the world.

Punta del Este & Jose Ignacio - Cheese, Wine, Olive Oil and Cooking

Your journey continues through Uruguay to Garzon and Punta del Este, where you will have the opportunity to sample some of the finest olive oils in the world.  Test your palate on wines from Altos de la Ballena winery before continuing to an artisan cheese farm for superb homemade cheese tastings. Finally conclude your holiday in Jose Ignacio with a cooking lesson at Estancia Anastasio and relaxing on the beaches, famous for their celebrity visitors.
