Situated on 23,000 acres of wild, highland terrain, the main house of Alladale offers the perfect base for lovers of unspoiled wilderness. There are three well-appointed houses on the reserve offering fully catered accommodation on an exclusive basis.
The reserve is owned by conservationist and champion of re-wilding, Paul Lister. Since he has owned the reserve, 900,000 trees have been planted and red squirrels have been successfully reintroduced. Lister is keen to re-introduce wolf and bear to Alladale - an ambitious project that will likely take many years to be realised.
Why We Like Alladale
Alladale offers a year-round, quintessential Scottish highland experience. The location is straight from Monarch of the Glen, the activities on offer are fun and invigorating and the service is warm and devoid of pretension. An exceptional base for a holiday in the Scottish highlands. Did we mention the food? We guarantee you’ll want to take the chef home with you.
Take guided walks, go fishing, jump on a mountain bike or take a 4x4 safaris of the reserve. If you take pleasure from wildlife and wild places then you’ll probably not want to leave the reserve however, should you wish to explore further afield, there is plenty to do. Travel to the UK’s most northerly point, John O’Groats, play a round of golf on a nearby golf course or visit Dornoch Castle Hotel whisky shop for a private, guided tasting of the finest scotch that money can buy.
Three houses are available on Alladale Wilderness Reserve, for private, exclusive use rental.
